Permanent Good Stream, Some Rocks draws its title from a line in a 1976 newspaper advertisement for a small rural property in Wombeyan Caves that was to become his family’s home. Using memories of unreliable family lore as a starting point, Alex displays a combination of video, photography and carved marble sculptures to poetically and humorously reflect upon the fragility of memory as well as the dangers and distortions of reconstructing it. Extrapolating from there, Alex asks how does this effect come to bear after years of exposure to an endless stream of digital content, memes and misinformation?
